This is Darwin - Ch. Ryu's Darwin, born to us March 13, 2004 is a full brother to Edge and is from my first home-bred litter. He has matured into an handsome 14 inch dog, with moderate bone, small head and a resilient and drivey temperament.

July 20, 2008 - Renee and Darwin playing on a CKC Excellent Standard course, designed by Adele Mcniven, with the Golden Retriever Club Of Canada trial at Hazelmere in Surrey B.C. We are working towards our Excellent title in the Standard's and Jumpers With Weaves classes.

At the Chilli-Dogs 3 day trial, May 18, 2007, Yarrow B.C. Canada

 

FYI - these are the legs needed for the AAC Agility Trial Champion of Canada (ATChC) title:

  1. 3 Starter Standard, and 1 Starter leg in each game = 7 legs
  2. 3 Advance Standard, and 2 Advance legs in each game = 11 legs
  3. 3 Master Standard, and 3 Master legs in each game = 15 legs

TOTAL: 33 LEGS

Darwin sits 6 Master Standard legs from his AAC Bronze title as of Nov. 29, 2007.

Darwin - a little history:

I often get asked what skills I have taught Darwin so I started a list.

Most of these behaviors are finished to an excellent level of distance, duration & distraction except where noted.

ready (look at my eyes) sit stand
down off leave-it
drop-it take-it come
heel touch (hand & target) ok
spin - right spin - left contact (2on/2off)
obstacle performance (9 obstacles) side (move to my right side) here (close)
back (back-up) hungry (lick lips)

quiet!

flip (lat. rear cross on the flat or to an obstacle) behind L & R (body wrap) turn (do a 180)
hand (deliver the item/toy to the hand) kennel mark (limited - started not finished)
bang (dead w/ head pos.) paw wait
stay in (start line position between your legs) house (move into building/room)
right (limited - not finished) left (limited - not finished) l lets-go (loose leash walking)
go (agility skill) visit (permission to greet other dogs/people as a dog) SFG (sit for greetings)
pee move ears (up and forward)
up (jump up on me) kisses fix your paw (during a stack)

all the agility obstacle names ears (move ears to to of his head and follow food lure with eyes without moving feet)

In the beginning.....

Darwin was one of 3 pups born from Ch. Miskela's Connecticut Yankee x Miskela's Tony The Tiger. He now weighs 17. pounds and is in great health. He matured into a friendly outgoing gentleman, with lots of spark and drive, and is a joy to live with.

Darwin at 6 months - just taking in the sights from atop the contact trainer. Darwin was still 6 months shy of being introduced to this obstacle as a training piece, you can see he likes it already.

  Here are buddies Darwin and Stevie Ray (owned by Suki and Richard Ford) blowing off a little after trial steam with a great game of tug. You can see how Stevie Ray will just hang on to her toy and let the angel food cake fluffy dog wear himself out.
