This is Sadie-May our Bichon Frise born in 1998. She found her way to us when she was 9 months old. She hadn't been vaccinated, groomed or socialized.

She was destined to be a runner and a fear bitter when she came into my home and needed gentle firm training and love. Sadie-Mays pack skills where out of control, as she stressed heavily at any separation, and had not been given the skills to be alone.

By the time she was able to go to a forever home, my fella Bill decided he loved her and she had to stay.

She gained confidence and social skills by getting some doggie friends and learning some obedience and agility.

I was very proud of her to be chosen to play with the MFAC Drill Team in Oct. 2000

Sadie-May is our house princess. She loves to get dressed up and to be fawned over by men.

She responded well to the methods I used and has become a really nice dog - complete with an AAC Master Agility Dog of Canada titles, and respectable regional placements.

A wise person once said to me 'Don't corner the rat or you will get bit'. This once scared little dog helped me learn about canine behavior and learning.

I used gentle desensitization methods, clicker training, crate training and careful management to counter condition this sweet dog into a wonderful pet with coping skills and trust in her pack leader. This process took 2 years, but was well worth the extra effort to watch her blossom.

Today she is a daddy's girl and wonderful companion. She likes agility, and gets to play at club demonstrations and special outings (not bad for a people scared dog wouldn't you say?!!), like the fun trip to Whistler with Paws Ahead to show off in the Village Common in front of a few hundred people and dogs.
